Famous Women Biography: Princess Diana-A successful woman in the history

Lady Princess Diana,Princess of Wales,(Diana Frances; née Spencer; July 1, 1961 – August 31, 1997) was the first wife of Charles. She was the youngest daughter of Edward John Spencer, Viscount Althorp, and Frances Ruth Burke Roche, Viscountess Althorp (later known as the Honorable Frances Shand Kydd).princess-diana

Royal descent

Princess Diana was also a descendant of King James II of England through an illegitimate daughter, Henrietta FitzJames, by his mistress Arabella Churchill. On her mother’s side, Diana was Irish and Scottish, as well as a descendant of American heiress Frances Work, her mother’s grandmother and namesake, from whom the considerable Roche fortune was derived.

Early life & Education

Her parents divorced when Diana was young, and her father won custody of her and her siblings. She was educated first at Riddlesworth Hall and then went to boarding school at West Heath School. Her outstanding community spirit was recognised with an award from West Heath. In 1977, at the age of 16, Diana left West Heath and briefly attended Institute Alpin Videmanette, a finishing school in Rougemont, Switzerland.Diana reportedly excelled in swimming and diving, and longed to be a professional ballerina with the Royal Ballet. She studied ballet for a time, but then grew to 5′10″, far too tall to become a professional.

Engagement and wedding

Their engagement became official on the 24th February, 1981, after Diana selected a large £30,000 ring consisting of 14 diamonds surrounding a sapphire, similar to her mother’s engagement ring. The press and the public were fascinated by this seemingly odd couple — the reserved, garden-loving prince and the shy young woman with an interest in fashion and popular culture. When the couple married on July 29, 1981, the ceremony was broadcast on television around the world, with millions of people tuning in to see what many considered to be the wedding of the century.

Children

On June 21, 1982, Diana and Charles had their first child: Prince William Arthur Philip Louis. He was joined by a brother, Prince Henry Charles Albert David — known widely as “Prince Harry” — more than two years later on September 15, 1984. Initially overwhelmed by her royal duties and the intense media coverage of nearly every aspect of her life, she began to develop and pursue her own interests. Diana served a strong supporter of many charities and worked to help the homeless, people living with HIV and AIDS, and children in need.

Personal life

Diana was often called Princess Diana by the media and the public, but she did not possess such a title and was not personally a princess, a point Diana herself made to people who referred to her as such.Opposite to belief, being Princess of Wales does not make one a princess in one’s own right.Their sons, Princes William and Harry, are second and third in line to the thrones of the United Kingdom and fifteen other Commonwealth Realms. From her marriage in 1981 to her divorce in 1996 she was styled “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales”.

Charity work

Princess Diana was the one who chose to do things differently. She was unhappy in her marriage, but she found her inspiration in her charity work and helping people. Princess Diana did not become a Queen of Britain, but to the people of the world she became a Queen of Hearts. Her looks as well as her life were the reflection of the constant work on herself and development of her personality. Diana clearly became more attractive as she matured. She becomes a influential women in the history.

Landmines

Diana was most famously, in the last year of her life, the most visible supporter of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, a campaign that went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 after her death, which many believed was a posthumous tribute to the Princess.
